My first IC LM317t

Today I made my first real circuit! It was bit confusing. I messed up the pin orders first and I could only get a 4 volt difference from the source. So I checked the data sheet again (lol the first time) and saw that pin 1 was Vadj and pin 2 was Vout and pin 3 was Vin. You can see it in the picture from left to right. I know this is a very very simple thing to do but it worked out awesome for me.

I needed to get 7.5 volts but I settled for 8 volts. So I used 330 for R1 and 1800 for R2. If you check this website here. Voltage Calculator for LM317 Its very easy to understand, just look at the chart for the voltage you need, and match up the resistances you have in your trusty resistor box. Unfortunately for me I could only make a 8.07 volts which in my opinion is perfectly fine for the project that I'm trying to do.

If your like me and have a box of resistors and dont have them sorted out properly, and you dont feel like metering them. Please remember I'm a total newb at this so you elite guys are laughing your asses off, but here is another link for finding out quickly what you need by matching the colors Resistor Color Code Table

Lets see if I can build my next circuit....... LOL

Here's One Way to Temper Your Road Rage: iGun for iPhone [Viral Videos]

hahaha, funny..... Reminds me of those little noise makers that you used to put on your dash board to do the same thing. Next he needs to add tank and rocket launcher noises.

Anyone who's ever crawled along at a snail's pace on a freeway should relate to this guy hilariously busting out his iPhone, firing up the iGun app, and totally losing his shit. Is it real or a viral? You decide:

iTunes Links: iGun Pro 2 costs 99 cents and has 4 guns to choose from, and there's also a basic free version. [via GadgetLab]

This Is Why They Make Travel Adapters [Image Cache]

Oh wow, that's something that I would SOOOOOOO do...... I wish I could take credit for that moment of genius....

Future Darwin Award nominee or desperate genius? Maybe both. But shoving things into what looks like a UK 220V outlet is probably not going to end well. Just ask the guy in this retro UK electrical hazards PSA:

Google Chromium on Mac Kicks Every Other Mac Browser's Ass [Browsers]

Google Chromium on Mac Kicks Every Other Mac Browser's Ass [Browsers]: "

Google Chromium 4.0, the pre-alpha version of Chrome, may still be buggy and crashy as all hell, but it's also incredibly fast, according to benchmarks: 34% faster than Safari, for one, and more than twice as fast as Firefox.

These numbers are based on Javascript benchmarks, which don't give a total view of a browser's speed but do tell us how adept a browser is at dealing with intensive code. Chromium scored 657ms on the test to Safari's 886ms. Firefox scored 1,508ms and Opera 10 Beta 3 (my personal browser of choice) lagged way behind with 5,958ms. Keeping in mind that Chromium is pre-alpha and thus better seen as a fun dev project than an actual candidate for a primary browser, we're pretty excited. Once Google irons out the bugs and gets some damn extensions, Chrome on Mac is going to be a stiff challenger to Firefox. [CNET]
