I've been wanting to make something like this for a while.... But I don't think I'm going to be doing anything about it now. Still too early in development...

[Jeff] is continuing to work on his WiFi streaming radio project and is now into part 7. The reason it's taken so long is because he's bothering to document every single piece of the system instead of assuming too much of the reader. The core of the system is an Asus WL-520GU wireless router. It is supported by OpenWRT and has a USB port for use with an external audio card. mpd, Music Player Daemon, is used for playback. This latest part features adding an LCD display for the current track. The router board already has points for the serial port, so it's just a matter of adding an AVR to talk to the LCD. The next step is building a simple user interface and then boxing everything up. You can view a video of the display below.

I list this post as epic fail, but really? Is it epic? It's a fail for sure. But it's only epic when the person failing knows that what they are doing is wrong. But I don't think this girl knows.

Friday Again!

So its Friday again..... Like most 5th workdays it is casual dress day. But here at Ethnic Channels Group ( GetNextTV ) its someones birthday. The tradition here is the birthday person usually buys food and drinks for a 5pm party......

First you think, "Hey, it's my birthday, WTF, you buy me the drinks and food." But as it says in the name its Ethinc Channels Group, and yes we bring traditions back from the old country and in the old country if someone at work wanted acknowledgement for his/her birthday, they would prepare a little feast and like in every "old country" you cant have a party with out alcohol........

I have to say that " I didn't drink " BUT, others did. On that note, we all know how alcohol brings out the truth right? (at least I get real honest when i'm drunk). Anyhow, I got several compliments form a certain person at work. Now you say " Who cares Sashmo ? " Well usually nobody. But the person that I was getting compliments from was very how do you say "out of left field". Back to the point......Anyhow I was told that a person like my self, with the skills that I have, could be making 3 times as much money that I was making now but in the U.S.. "?!?!?!?" Let me do the math...... "hmmm hmmm hmmm carry the one hmmm hmmm hmm" NICE.......

I wont go into other details of what was said, but never the less, I look forward to the next party (which is usually every Friday) and prepare my self for the compliments.

Lessons in Electric Circuits

Early Mornings....

It's 5am and my iPhone starting ringing.......It's work.... 3 Channels are down and at 6 we need to switch over feeds.... FCK! The guy in master control says he has content he can put in place until I get there, maybe even enough till 9am.... I said great, hung up the phone and went back to sleep. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go back to sleep... I tossed and turned for bit and then decided to get up and go to work early COUGH! COUGH! early? I normally don't walk into work til 10 am and its 5:30 now.....

So you ask "Sashmo, why the long intro?, Who cares, I'm having my morning coffee and don't wana hear your complaints about waking up early" Well...... Lets look at this early morning thing...

First of all, I have never been a morning person. NEVER. My dad to this day still makes fun of how much I can sleep. I mean, really, I like to sleep. But today was different.

I don't know if its my age or my health, but lately, when I wake up, I can't go back to sleep anymore. Some people would say its your age. Some people would say that its stress. I don't know. All I can say is, it felt good to wake up early today. In fact, I was excited to come and solve problems (Given that I am probably ONE of the 2% of the population that LIKES his job).

So you ask again "Sashmo, GET TO THE FCKN' POINT ALREADY"..... OK OK.... Don't get to hostile. (Hostile, Dogggy Style, I do em all) The reminds me of my dad and the first time I heard him tell a dirty joke. "BACK TO THE POINT!" OK OK sorry...

I think I know why I look so forward to coming to work early. After some deep analysis, I realized why it felt so good pre and post drive in to work.

• Still dark. I hate driving into work and have that sun blinding me (you know, that bright sun that seems to blind you, no matter what type of designer sun glasses you have on?) So it was nice to drive in while it was still dark.
• NO TRAFFIC, yeah I can't stress that enough. Yes I even coming into work at 10am I still have traffic and construction, so it was a nice feeling to not have to worry about the stop and go.
• Nobody in the office yet. Excluding the guy in master control. There is nobody at work. I don't have to do my usual routine saying "HI!" to everyone.

After going through this short list I realized something. Early risers are anxiety filled introverts. Yes I said it. It never felt so good to avoid everything, i.e. traffic, stress, socializing. People who wake up early are not doing it to get a good start on the day, they are doing it because the want to avoid all the other bullsh!t that comes with each day. Given that you actually get some work done too. That could be another thing, but I think thats the plus side of it. Look at how long my post is? I've never had this much time to rant on a post. hahahaha.......

Ok, so its been a while....

I originally started this blog to see if blogging on Blogger would help the Google rankings for the company that I worked for.

I must be doing something wrong because, it didn't. Not even a bit.

Anyone out there feel like helping me out? Whats the best way to improve your Google ranking?

Monday Happens

Slow day today... Nothing real interesting to blog about. Just a note on the tragic findings of Jenifer Hudsons nephew. 7 Year old found dead in Hudson's brothers SUV. What a tragedy....

Good Find.....

Wow, good find.... Since I've been a Winamp and Shoutcast guy for ever, switching to iTunes was a bit traumatising. By absolute fluke I found this quick and sleezy method to get shoutcast into iTunes.

I've just tried it and it works like a charm. The only problem is that some of the sites I listen to are not in .pls format but there's sooooooo much to listen on shout cast that Im sure that I can find a replacement.

Stations that I listen to:

• .977 The Hitz Channel
• Hot 108 Jamz
• Radio Paradise

You can always go to www.shoutcast.com to find your own or go download winamp at www.winamp.com to get all these stations. Side note, if your an old ipod user, the winamp software allows you to manage your collection and sync it with your ipod (both directions and multiple computers :D )

Casual Friday

OK, so its Friday..... Not much going on at work. Everyone is playing around not doing much work. I still feel its my duty to do some work, so I research as usual and I came across some time wasters. Here are a couple.

I've always been a fan of SNL (Saturday Night Live) but over the years they've been a bit boring, ok not a bit, A LOT. I found this post on engadget and I figured that I would give it some of my time (since it was Friday and no one else was working). I'm happy that I did. Fred Armison is hilarious. This clip is about that big touch screen that they use at CNN and FOX. It made me really laugh out loud. I think you have to be a bit of a techno geek to really laugh at it, but give it a try.

Being a Iphone and a Blackberry user I found this post very interesting. I think that all 3 phones have good qualities about them, but I still favor my Blackberry 8320 over the others. Take a look for your self and tell me what you think....

Epic Fail....

Ok, so your going to see my using the phrase FAIL, or EPIC FAIL a lot. The phrase FAIL comes from the obvious. Attempting to do something and then failing at it. If it's real bad? then its EPIC. So we start with a mediocre fail. Here's a link of screen shot from flickr, which has a picture of a comercial on TV. ahaha read the fine print ;)

You deserve to get screwed by this lawyer just for not reading the obivious. LOL























I dont see it as a megafail but it is a FAIL with out doubt.

I work for a company called Ethnic Channels Group. They have a division called NexTV. NexTV is the new way to watch TV. No need for satelites and antennas. If you have a High Speed Internet connection you can watch TV from all around the world. Obviously from the name of the comany "Ethnic" NexTV's content is derrived from world wide television boradcasters.

Fisrt Post......

Like many, we must doa FIRST post. Well here it is.

One might ask " Why on earth would you waste your time with a blog? "

My answer to that question would be, " Becuase...." hahahahah. Ok seriusly, your going to see many...... after every sentance, don't ask me why, I just think it describes my way of speaking better...

I have a few reasons why I decdided to start blogging.

1. Keep the world updated with my findings.
2. Keep my friends upadted with the my daily rants and thoughts about technology.
3. Help other sites that I am affiliated with to get ranked higher up on goolge. (to be discussed at a later point in time.
4. Who knows? This might actually get popular enough that I could make some money out of it (highly unlikely, but who knows, it dosnt hurt to dream.

I plan to blog daily, At least during the week.

Somone might ask " What can I expect to see on your blog? "

Well? Here are a few ideas of what to expect.

1. NEW STUFF, yup I said it. All my friends come to me for all things computer related.
2. Links to other sites with intresting information. (I always get excited when I find some new cool thing on the net, but I never know how to share it with all my friends.)
3. New Ideas from me! (I'm always coming up with some new business idea and look forward to get feedback from others on what they think.)
4. Pictures, Diagrams, Files.... All kinds of stuff related to technology and computers.
5. New findings on Windows Media Serivces, Windows Media Encoder, and all forms of Streaming. (( Since I work at a IPTV company (internet protocol TV) I'm always finding new ways to stream better.)

So about me?? Well let me see where that bio section is here on blogger...... If I can't find it, I guess I'm just gona make another post.

Also, please don't make comments about my spelling or grammer. I really dont care... Thats what spell checker was made for, if I have the time to do it I will, but if I don't please don't bother me with it......
